Hamza Muhammad Abdullah, born on August 20, 1983, is a former American football player. He played as a safety, a defensive position. Hamza was chosen by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2005 NFL draft. Before that, he played college football for Washington State University.
Hamza also played for the Denver Broncos, Cleveland Browns, and Arizona Cardinals. He is the older brother of another former NFL safety, Husain Abdullah.

Hamza grew up in Southern California in a large family with twelve children. He was raised as a devout Muslim. He went to Pomona High School, where he played football.
Playing Professional Football
Hamza Abdullah had a career in the National Football League (NFL). He played for several teams during his time as a professional athlete.
Starting with the Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers picked Hamza in the seventh round of the 2005 NFL draft. He was the 231st player chosen overall. After training camp, he was waived by the team. For the first two months of the 2005 season, he was part of the Buccaneers' practice squad.
Time with the Denver Broncos
On November 1, 2005, the Denver Broncos signed Hamza. He joined their main roster from the Buccaneers' practice squad.
Hamza played for the Broncos during the 2006 and 2007 seasons. He mostly played on special teams and as a backup player. On November 11, 2007, he started his first professional game. This was against the Kansas City Chiefs, where he made his first tackle. In April 2008, he signed a one-year contract with the Broncos. However, he was released by the team on September 23, 2008.
Playing for the Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns signed Hamza Abdullah on October 6, 2008. He joined the team after another player was waived. He was later waived by the Browns on September 5, 2009.
Joining the Arizona Cardinals
On December 22, 2009, Hamza was signed by the Arizona Cardinals. He joined the team after a linebacker was waived. He played with the Cardinals until 2011.
Hamza's Personal Life
In 2012, Hamza and his brother Husain decided to take a break from the NFL. They chose to go on a pilgrimage to Mecca, a holy journey for Muslims.
