Hanif Bali (born 10 April 1987) is a Swedish politician who is a member of the Moderate Party. For many years, he served in Sweden's national government. He was a member of the Riksdag, which is the name for Sweden's parliament, from 2010 to 2022. He represented the area of Stockholm County.
Today, he is active in local politics in Österåker, Åkersberga, where he lives.
Early Life and Education
Hanif Bali was born in Kermanshah, Iran. He came to Sweden by himself when he was only three years old. During his childhood, he lived with several different foster families.
After finishing his upper secondary school, called gymnasium in Sweden, he went on to study at the famous Uppsala University. Before he became a full-time politician, Bali had a career as a programmer and web developer. He even worked for the Moderate Party as a webmaster from 2006 to 2007.
Political Career
Entering the Riksdag
Before the 2010 Swedish general election, Hanif Bali was chosen as a candidate for the Riksdag. He was the youngest and highest-ranking new candidate for the Moderate Party in his region. This was a big step in his political journey.
In the Riksdag, Bali was a member of the Labour Market Committee. A committee is a small group of politicians who focus on specific topics. He was also a deputy, or backup member, in the Education Committee. For his party, he was in charge of topics related to helping new immigrants find their place in society.
Work and Other Activities
Besides his work as a politician, Bali also runs his own business as an IT consultant.
He is known for being very active and direct on social media sites like Twitter. His straightforward way of communicating has often led to discussions and debates. He has also helped organize fundraising to collect money for people who have been victims of crime.
