Hanno Pevkur was born on April 2, 1977. He is an Estonian politician who currently serves as the Minister of Defence. He used to be the leader of the Estonian Reform Party.
Before his current role, he was the Minister of Social Affairs from 2009 to 2012. He also served as the Minister of Justice from 2012 to 2014. From 2014 to 2016, he was the Minister of the Interior.

Early Life and Education
Hanno Pevkur finished his studies at Järva-Jaani Secondary School. He then studied law at the Tallinn School of Economics. Later, he continued his law studies at the University of Tartu. Before becoming a politician, Pevkur worked as a lawyer until the year 2000.
Political Journey
Starting in Local Government
From 2000 to 2005, Hanno Pevkur worked in the Nõmme City District Government. He started as an Administrative Secretary. Later, he became the Head of the City District.
Moving to National Politics
Between 2005 and 2007, Pevkur was a member of the Tallinn City Council. During this time, he also worked as an adviser to the Minister of Justice.
From 2007 to 2009, Pevkur was a member of the 11th Riigikogu. The Riigikogu is Estonia's parliament. He was also part of the Nõmme Administrative Council.
Becoming a Minister
On February 23, 2009, Pevkur became the Minister of Social Affairs. He took over from Maret Maripuu.
On December 10, 2012, Pevkur was appointed as the Minister of Justice.
From 2014 to 2016, Pevkur served as the Minister of the Interior. He held this position in the governments led by Taavi Rõivas.
Later Roles in Parliament
On October 23, 2017, Pevkur was chosen as a deputy speaker of the Riigikogu. He replaced Taavi Rõivas in this role.
On December 13, 2017, Pevkur announced that he would not seek to become the chairman of the Reform Party again in January 2018.
Personal Life
Hanno Pevkur is married and has two children. He speaks several languages. Besides his native Estonian, he can also speak Russian, English, German, and Finnish.
