Hans Ture Lennart Lagerqvist (born April 28, 1940 – died July 22, 2019) was a talented Swedish athlete. He was best known as a pole vaulter. Hans won a silver medal at a big European competition in 1972.

He was also very good at other sports. These included sprinting and long jump. Hans Lagerqvist was a national champion in pole vaulting in Sweden. He also set several national records during his career.

Hans Lagerqvist was born in Gothenburg, Sweden. He became a well-known pole vaulter. This sport involves using a long pole to jump over a high bar. Athletes need strength, speed, and good timing.

Hans competed for the Duvbo IK club. He was 182 cm (about 6 feet) tall and weighed 73 kg (about 160 pounds). His best pole vault jump was 5.40 meters indoors in 1972. He also ran 100 meters in 10.8 seconds and long jumped 7.07 meters.

A Champion Pole Vaulter

In 1972, Hans Lagerqvist won a silver medal. This was at the 1972 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Grenoble. He jumped the same height as the winner, Wolfgang Nordwig. However, Nordwig won because he cleared the height in fewer tries.

Hans also competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. He placed seventh in the pole vault event there. In 1971, he finished fourth at the European Championships. He also placed seventh at the European Indoor Championships that same year.
