Hans Óttar Lindberg Tómasson (born 1 August 1981) is a famous Danish handball player. He plays as a right wing for HØJ Elite and is a key member of the Danish national team.
Hans has played more matches for the Danish national team than almost anyone else. He also holds the record for being on the national team for the longest time. This makes him the oldest player ever for the Danish team.
He has won many big tournaments with Denmark. These include the 2008 European Men's Handball Championship and the 2012 European Men's Handball Championship. In 2024, he won an Olympic gold medal in Paris.
Hans has family roots in Iceland. Both of his parents, Tómas Erling Lindberg and Sigrún Sigurðardóttir, are from Iceland. They also played handball there. His grandparents moved to Iceland from the Faroe Islands in the 1940s.
Sometimes, in Icelandic news, he is called "the Icelander" on the Danish national team. He can understand Icelandic when people talk to him.
Hans Lindberg's Handball Journey
Hans Lindberg began his handball career with a team called Team Helsinge. Later, in 2006, this team joined with Hillerød HK. They are now known as Nordsjælland Håndbold.
Top Scorer in Germany
Hans Lindberg is known for scoring many goals. He was the top goal scorer in the German handball league, the Bundesliga, three times. These seasons were 2009–2010, 2012–2013, and 2021–2022.
In 2013, he helped HSV Hamburg win the 2012–13 EHF Champions League, which is a very important European club tournament. He was also the top scorer in that tournament.
On May 20, 2023, Hans Lindberg made history. He became the player with the most goals ever scored in the Bundesliga. He scored 12 goals in a game against GWD Minden. This helped him pass the previous record of 2905 goals, which was held by Yoon Kyung-shin.
He also won the 2022–23 EHF European League with his team, Füchse Berlin.

Hans Lindberg has received many special awards for his amazing skills.
- All-Star Right Wing: He was chosen as the best right wing player at the 2013 World Men's Handball Championship.
- Top Scorer in Champions League: He scored the most goals in the 2012–13 EHF Champions League season.
- Top Scorer in Bundesliga: He was the top goal scorer in the German Handball-Bundesliga in 2009–2010, 2012–2013, and 2021–2022.
- Best Right Wing of the Season: He won the EHF Excellence Award for the best right wing player in the 2022–2023 season.
