Type Biscuit
Place of origin United Kingdom
Created by Jacob's Bakery Ltd.
Main ingredients Shortcake, raspberry jam, cream

Happy Faces are fun biscuits made by Jacob's Bakery Ltd., a company owned by United Biscuits. These tasty treats are a lot like another popular biscuit called Jammie Dodgers.

Each Happy Faces biscuit has two pieces of sweet shortcake. In the middle, you'll find a yummy filling of raspberry jam and smooth cream. What makes them special are the faces pressed into the shortcake. These faces have holes for eyes and a mouth, so you can see the colorful jam and cream inside!

Happy Faces biscuits are about 45 millimeters wide. You usually find them sold in packs of 10.

The History of Happy Faces Biscuits

Happy Faces biscuits have an interesting past. They were first designed in the late 1960s or 1970s. An engineer named Peter Stitson helped create the machines that made these unique biscuits when the company was known as Nabisco Frears.

For a while, Happy Faces were not sold on their own. They were only found in special Family Circle biscuit packs until 2020. But good news for fans! In May 2023, McVities, another well-known biscuit company, announced that they had started making Happy Faces again. Now, you can find them back on supermarket shelves, often under the BN Brand.

Happy Faces in Other Countries

Did you know Happy Faces had a cousin in the United States? The company Nabisco used to make a similar biscuit there called Giggles. However, Giggles biscuits are no longer made.
