Hard Luck is a place in Gladwin County, Michigan, in the United States. It is known as a ghost town. A ghost town is a place where most people have left, and it is no longer a busy community.
Where is Hard Luck?
Hard Luck is found in Grim Township. This area is part of the Au Sable State Forest. It is about 14 miles (23 km) northeast of the city of Gladwin.
What Was Hard Luck Like?
Hard Luck was once a busy place because of the lumber trade. This means people worked there cutting down trees and processing wood. The wood was then sent to other places.
Railroad and Post Office
Hard Luck had its own station along the Michigan Central Railroad. Trains would stop there, likely to pick up and drop off lumber and supplies.
The town also had its own post office for a short time. It opened on April 24, 1904. However, it closed just over two years later, on August 31, 1906. This short time shows that the town was not active for very long.
