Harold Dow's Early Life and Career

Harold Dow was born in Hackensack, New Jersey. This was on September 28, 1947. He later went to college at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He was also part of a group called Kappa Alpha Psi.

Dow made history when he became a co-anchor and talk-show host for KETV in Omaha, Nebraska. He was the first African-American television reporter in that city. Before this, Dow also worked as an anchor and reporter for Theta Cable TV. This was in Santa Monica, California. He was also a news anchor for WPAT Radio in Paterson, New Jersey.

Dow was a co-anchor for the CBS overnight news program. This show was called CBS News Nightwatch from 1982 to 1983. He was also a correspondent for the CBS News magazine Street Stories from 1992 to 1993. Dow reported for the CBS Evening News and CBS News Sunday Morning. He had been doing this since the early 1970s.

Dow joined CBS News in 1972. First, he was a broadcast associate. Then, he became a correspondent with their Los Angeles Bureau. He worked there while also with KCOP-TV.

Harold Dow lived in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey. He passed away on August 21, 2010. He died from problems related to asthma.
