Company History
How Harrisons Malayalam Started
The company's story began in 1907. A company from the United Kingdom called Harrisons & Crosfield started Malayalam Plantations Ltd. in South India. This was the beginning of what would become Harrisons Malayalam.
Changes in Ownership
Over the years, the company's ownership changed. In 1983, a part of Malayalam Plantations was sold to people in India. The next year, Malayalam Plantations joined with other businesses owned by Harrison & Crosfield in India. This created the company we know today as Harrisons Malayalam.
In 1988, a large Indian business group called the RPG Group bought Harrisons Malayalam. Sanjiv Goenka became the chairman of the company. Later, the RPG Group's businesses were split between two brothers, Sanjiv and Harsh. Harrisons Malayalam was also divided. Sanjiv continued to lead the original company. Harsh took control of a new part called Harmony Plantations.

Harrisons Malayalam owns many large farms, called estates. They have 13 tea estates and 11 rubber estates. They also have factories where they process rubber at Kumbazha and Achoor, and tea at Suryanelli.
