Harry Julius Thompson (born January 8, 1926 – died November 26, 2003) was a talented American football player. He played as an offensive guard in the National Football League (NFL). Thompson spent six seasons playing for two different teams. These were the Los Angeles Rams and the Chicago Cardinals. Before playing professionally, he studied at Los Angeles City College and then at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He also went to Los Angeles High School.
Playing College Football
Harry Thompson started his college football journey at Los Angeles City College. He played for their team, the Cubs. Later, he transferred to the University of California, Los Angeles. There, he joined the UCLA Bruins football team. He played for the Bruins in 1948 and 1949. Thompson was a starter in both of those seasons.
Professional Football Career
Thompson became a professional football player in 1950. He joined the Los Angeles Rams team. He played with the Rams for five seasons, from 1950 to 1954. A big highlight of his time with the Rams was winning the NFL championship in 1951. This was a major achievement for the team. After playing for the Rams, Thompson moved to the Chicago Cardinals. He played in eleven games for the Cardinals during the 1955 season.
