Harvey Island is a small, special island located off the coast of Queensland, Australia. It is part of the amazing Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. This island is found in a place called Temple Bay, near Cape Grenville.

Harvey Island is located in Northern Australia. It sits about 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) east of Cape Grenville. This area is part of the famous Cape York Peninsula. The island is about 200 kilometers (124 miles) northeast of Kutini-Payamu (Iron Range) National Park and Lockhart River.
Size of the Island
Harvey Island is quite small. It covers an area of about 7 hectares. To help you imagine this, 7 hectares is roughly the size of seven rugby fields. In square kilometers, this is 0.07 square kilometers.
Part of the Great Barrier Reef
This island is a small piece of the much larger Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral reef system. It is home to thousands of types of marine life. The Marine Park helps protect this incredible natural wonder. Harvey Island is also considered one of the "Home Islands" group.
