Hatch is a small town in Garfield County, Utah, in the United States. In 2020, about 132 people lived there. It is located about 260 miles (418 km) south of Salt Lake City, which is the capital of Utah.

History of Hatch
Hatch was first settled in 1872 and was originally called "Mammoth." A post office, which is a place where you send and receive mail, opened in Hatch in 1904. The town was named after Meltiar Hatch, Sr., who was an important early settler in the area.
Geography of Hatch
Hatch is located in the southwestern part of Garfield County. It sits in the valley of the Sevier River, which is a river that starts nearby. U.S. Route 89, a major highway, goes right through the town. If you drive north on this highway for about 15 miles (24 km), you will reach Panguitch, which is the main town of Garfield County. Driving south for about 26 miles (42 km) will take you to Glendale. The town covers a total area of about 1.82 square miles (4.72 square kilometers), and all of it is land.

Community Development
In the summer of 2010, the town started building a new town office and community center. This building is next to the town park and was finished in the fall of 2010.
