Haugen is a small village located in Barron County, Wisconsin, in the United States. In 2020, about 266 people lived there.
History
Haugen got its name in 1886 from a man named Nils P. Haugen. He was a Norwegian settler who came to the U.S. in 1854. Nils Haugen was a local landowner, a lawyer, and even a member of Congress.
A post office opened in Haugen in 1889. This helped the village grow and connect with other places.
The ZCBJ Hall in Haugen is a special historical building. It was a meeting place for Czech-Americans, people from the Czech Republic who moved to the U.S. This hall is so important that it's listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Geography
Haugen is located in Wisconsin at specific coordinates: 45.608497 degrees North and -91.777379 degrees West.
The village covers a total area of about 0.52 square miles (1.32 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 0.51 square miles (1.31 square kilometers), is land. A very small part, about 0.01 square miles (0.02 square kilometers), is water.
Haugen is easy to reach because it's located along U.S. Highway 53. Other roads like County Road SS and County Road V also pass through the village.
