He Kexin (born January 1, 1992) is a Chinese former artistic gymnast. She competed in the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. At the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, she won two gold medals. She earned gold on the uneven bars and with the Chinese team. She was one of the few gymnasts to score over 17.00 points under the old scoring system. Her difficulty score of 7.7 on bars in 2008 was one of the highest in the world.

Some questions were raised about her age before the 2008 Olympics. However, an official investigation found that she was old enough to compete. She continued to be very successful after the Beijing Olympics. She holds the record for the highest difficulty score in the entire London Olympic period. At the 2010 World Championships, she scored 16.133 with a 7.4 difficulty. This was one of the top scores in women's gymnastics between 2009 and 2012.

He Kexin's Gymnastics Journey

He Kexin started training at the Shichahai Sports School in Beijing in 1997. She took part in China's National Games in 2006. In 2007, she competed in the Intercity Games. After winning on the uneven bars at the Intercity Games, she joined the Chinese National Team. This was in 2007, as reported by China Daily.

She made her first international appearance in 2008. She competed in several events on the World Cup circuit. At her first competition in Doha, she scored 16.550 on the uneven bars. At her second event, the Cottbus Cup, she scored 16.800. This was the highest uneven bars score at an international event under the new scoring rules. It was even better than Nastia Liukin's score of 16.65. On May 15, 2008, He Kexin broke two world records at the Tianjin World Cup.

At the 2008 Olympics, He Kexin was part of the Chinese team that won the gold medal. In the uneven bars final, she and Liukin both scored 16.725. They had the same scores from both judging panels. He Kexin won the gold medal because her individual scores had less variation. This was according to the Olympic tiebreaker rules.

At the 2009 World Championships in London, she won another gold medal. She defended her uneven bars title with a score of 16.000. Her difficulty score was 7.1.

During the team finals at the 2010 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, He Kexin got the highest score for her team. She scored 16.133 with a 7.4 difficulty. This was the highest difficulty score for any event during the London Olympic period. Her 16.133 score on bars was also the highest achieved at that time. However, she fell in the event final and did not win a medal. At the 2011 World Championships, she fell again in the qualifications. She did not make it to the event final. Even so, she was still on the Chinese team, which won the bronze medal.

He Kexin was chosen for the 2012 Olympic team. She was picked over other gymnasts like Jiang Yuyuan and Tan Sixin. Her special skills on the uneven bars were a good match for the team. At the Olympics, she qualified in second place for the uneven bars final. She finished in second place, winning a silver medal. Aliya Mustafina of Russia won the gold. This made He Kexin the only Chinese female gymnast to win a medal in the same event at two Olympics in a row.
