Helenium drummondii, also known as fringed sneezeweed, is a special plant found in North America. It's a type of perennial plant, which means it lives for more than two years, coming back each growing season. This plant belongs to the Sunflower Family, just like the big, bright sunflowers you might know! You can find it growing naturally in the south-central parts of the United States, especially in places like eastern Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana.

About Fringed Sneezeweed

Helenium drummondii is a type of herb (a plant without a woody stem) that can grow up to 60 centimeters (about 2 feet) tall. Its leaves are long, thin, and look a lot like grass.

What Does It Look Like?

Each fringed sneezeweed plant usually produces only one to three flower heads. These flower heads are shaped like a ball or half-ball. They are packed with many tiny yellow flowers! A single head can have as many as 1000 yellow disc florets (the small flowers in the center). Around the edge, it also has 13 to 30 yellow ray florets, which look like petals.

Where Does It Grow?

This plant loves wet places. You can find Helenium drummondii growing in bogs, swamps, and other areas where the ground is very moist.
