Who is Henry?
You might wonder who Henry is, since he never appears in the show. Some people think the name comes from an older cartoon by Stan Hayward and Bob Godfrey called Henry 9 'til 5. That show was about a man who escaped his boring life by daydreaming. Henry's Cat is similar because he also loves to daydream and has a relaxed attitude.
The real reason for the name was explained by creator Stan Hayward in 2000. Henry was Henry's Cat's first owner. Henry moved away, and Henry's Cat simply forgot to go with him. He had a very bad memory and later even forgot his own name. So, he became known simply as "Henry's Cat."
Episodes of Henry's Cat
The show had a total of 51 episodes across five series. The first two series had shorter episodes, lasting about 5 minutes each. Later series, from Series 3 to Series 5, had longer episodes, around 13 to 15 minutes long.
The episodes often featured Henry's Cat and his friends going on adventures. Sometimes these were real adventures, and other times they were amazing daydreams! Henry's Cat might imagine himself as a detective, a cowboy, or even a space explorer. His friends, and sometimes his enemies like Rum Baa Baa, would often join in the fun.
Some episodes focused on everyday situations, like Henry's Cat trying to find a hobby or going on a diet. Other times, they involved exciting quests, like searching for treasure or trying to stop Rum Baa Baa's latest evil plan. The show always had a lot of humor and imagination.
