Henry Barber Richardson (born May 19, 1889, died November 19, 1963) was an amazing American archer. He was a true Olympic star! Henry won two bronze medals at the Olympic Games. He was the very first archer to win medals in two different Olympics. What's even cooler? He was the youngest medalist at the 1904 Summer Olympics, earning his medal when he was just 15 years old!

Henry Richardson: Youngest Olympic Archer

Henry Richardson made history at the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis, Missouri. He was only 15 years old! This made him the youngest person to win a medal at those Games.

Winning Bronze in 1904

Henry won his first bronze medal in the team event. He was part of the Boston Archers team. His team finished third out of four teams. They scored a total of 1268 points.

Other Events in St. Louis

Besides the team event, Henry also competed in other archery rounds. He placed 9th in the double York round. He also finished 10th in the double American round.

London Olympics: Another Bronze Medal

Four years later, in 1908, Henry Richardson was 19 years old. He traveled to the 1908 Summer Olympics in London, England. There, he won his second bronze medal!

Double York Round Success

This time, his medal was in the men's double York round. Henry started strong, but he really shined in the second half of the competition. He shot an amazing 417 points in the second half. This was the best score for a single round in the whole tournament!

Henry finished in third place with a total of 760 points. The gold medal went to William Dod, and Reginald Brooks-King won silver.

Continental Style Event

Henry also took part in the Continental style event. He placed 15th in this competition.

After his amazing Olympic career, Henry Richardson continued his education. He graduated from both Harvard University and Harvard Medical School.
