Alfred Henry Bromell (born September 19, 1947 – died March 18, 2013) was an American writer and director. He was known for his work on many popular TV shows and movies. He wrote novels, screenplays for films, and directed.

Henry Bromell's Career
Henry Bromell had an exciting career in television and film. He helped create many stories that people loved to watch.
Working on TV Shows
Bromell joined the team of the TV show Homicide: Life on the Street in 1994. He was a writer and a co-executive producer for the show. This meant he helped write the scripts and also managed parts of the show's production. He wrote 26 episodes over three seasons. He also helped with Homicide: The Movie in 2000.
He wrote and produced for many other TV series. Some of these include Chicago Hope, Northern Exposure, and Carnivàle.
His Work on Homeland
One of his most famous works was the Showtime series Homeland. He was a consulting producer and later an executive producer. He wrote four episodes for the show. These included "The Good Soldier" and "Q&A".
Bromell won several awards for his writing. He received a Writers Guild of America Award for "The Good Soldier". After he passed away, he was given a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for "Q&A". He also shared the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series and the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Drama for Homeland in 2012.
Directing Films
Besides TV, Bromell also wrote and directed movies. He directed the film Panic in 2000. This movie was nominated for a top award at the Deauville Film Festival. He also directed a TV movie called Last Call. This film starred Jeremy Irons as the famous writer F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Bromell also helped create the TV series Falling Water for the USA Network. He co-wrote the first episode of the show.

Early Life and Education
Bromell went to Eaglebrook School and the United World College of the Atlantic. He then graduated from Amherst College in 1970.
Writing Books
Before his TV and film career, Bromell was a novelist. He won an award for his first novel, The Slightest Distance. He also published a collection of short stories called I Know Your Heart, Marco Polo. His short stories were so good that they appeared in two O. Henry Award collections.
Family and Passing
Henry Bromell was married three times. His first wife was screenwriter Caroline Thompson. He then married writer Trish Soodik, and they had a son named William. Trish passed away in 2009. His third wife was Sarah.
Henry Bromell passed away on March 18, 2013, at the age of 65. He died from a heart attack.
