Henry Fork is a small community located in Franklin County, Virginia, in the United States. It is an unincorporated community, meaning it does not have its own local government. It is also a census-designated place (CDP). This means the United States Census Bureau defines it for gathering population data.
In 2010, the population of Henry Fork was 1,234 people. It is situated just south of the town of Rocky Mount.
Geography
Henry Fork is found in the middle part of Franklin County. It is mainly located where two important roads meet. These roads are U.S. Route 220 (the Rocky Mount bypass) and U.S. Route 220 Business (South Main Street).
Location and Nearby Cities
The community is about 3 miles (5 km) south of the center of Rocky Mount. You can travel north on US 220 for about 27 miles (43 km) to reach the city of Roanoke. If you go south on US 220 for about 24 miles (39 km), you will arrive in Martinsville.
Land and Water
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Henry Fork CDP covers a total area of 7.1 square kilometers (2.7 square miles). Most of this area is land. Only a small part, about 0.02 square kilometers (0.01 square miles), is water.
The Pigg River flows along the northern edge of Henry Fork. This river flows east and is a branch of the Roanoke River. The Pigg River also forms the border between Henry Fork and the town of Rocky Mount.
