Henry Howell (born March 6, 1828 – died November 24, 1896) was an important Mormon pioneer. He also helped start the town of Fish Haven, Idaho, in the United States.
Henry Howell's Life Story
Early Life in England
Henry Howell was born in Essex, England, in 1828. When he was 27 years old, in 1855, he married Frances Goble. Just one month after their wedding, they decided to move to the United States.
Moving to America
After arriving in America, Henry and Frances lived in Philadelphia for five years. In 1860, Henry Howell made a long journey. He traveled across the plains of America to reach Salt Lake City. This was a common journey for Mormon pioneers at that time.
Helping to Settle Idaho
In 1864, Henry Howell played a key role in settling new areas in Bear Lake County, Idaho. He first helped to establish the town of Paris. Later, he was one of the people who founded Fish Haven, Idaho. Henry Howell lived in Fish Haven until he passed away in 1896.
