Henrytown is a small, quiet place located in Fillmore County, in the U.S. state of Minnesota. It's known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it's usually managed by the county it's in.
History
Henrytown was officially planned and laid out, or "plat"ted, way back in 1854. Think of it like drawing a map for a new neighborhood, showing where streets and lots would go. The community got its name from an important early settler named Henry Onstine. An early settler is one of the first people to move to and live in a new area, helping to build it from the ground up.
For many years, Henrytown had its own post office, which was a central spot for sending and receiving mail. However, the Henrytown post office eventually closed its doors in 1902. This often happens when a community's population changes or when mail services become more centralized in nearby larger towns.
