Herencia is a town in Spain. It is located in the Province of Ciudad Real. This area is part of the Castilla–La Mancha region. In 2020, about 8,456 people lived there. Herencia is about 150 kilometers (93 miles) south of Madrid.

Herencia is special because it's on a famous route. This route is part of the eighth section of Don Quixote's journey. Don Quixote is a very old and famous Spanish story. The route goes through many towns in Castilla-La Mancha. You can also see two hills behind the town. These hills have old windmills on them. The town is about 650 meters (2,133 feet) above sea level.
