Hermigua is a lovely town and municipality located on the northeastern side of La Gomera island. This island is part of the Canary Islands in Spain. Hermigua is about 12 kilometers northwest of San Sebastián de la Gomera, which is the capital city of the island. A large part of the municipality is covered by the amazing Garajonay National Park.
Long ago, the valley where Hermigua is located was home to the Guanches. They were the first people to live on the Canary Islands. They called this area Mulagua. Later, in the 1500s, Hermigua became a town. It started as a small settlement known as Valle Bajo. You can still find old cedar forests in a special area called El Cedro.

Hermigua is made up of several smaller communities, each with its own charm. These communities are often divided by valleys.
- Valle Bajo: This area includes the communities of El Curato and El Palmerejo.

Hermigua has many interesting spots to explore, from historic buildings to natural wonders.
- Valle Alto: This was one of the very first settlements in Hermigua.
- El Convento: In Valle Alto, you can see a Dominican church and monastery. It was built way back in 1611!
- Escuela Popular: Another important landmark in Valle Alto is the old Escuela Popular, which means "People's School".
- El Chorro Waterfall: Get ready to see a beautiful waterfall called El Chorro. It's a great spot for nature lovers.
- Los Telares Museum: This museum shows off handicrafts made by local people. It's a great way to learn about the area's traditions.
- Roques Pedro y Petra: These are two impressive rock formations that stand tall in the landscape.
- El Pescante (The Old Davit): This is an old structure that was once used to load and unload goods from ships. It's a cool piece of history by the coast.
- El Caserío del Cedro: This is a small, isolated village located near the National Park. It feels like stepping back in time.
