The Hermitage of Santa Anna is an old religious building. You can find it near the town of Xàtiva in València, Spain. It was built a long time ago, in the 15th century.

To get to the hermitage, you first go through the nearby town of La Llosa de Ranes. Then, you take a path called Baños. This path goes up a cone-shaped hill. At the top of this hill, you get amazing views! You can see the fields around Xàtiva, the city itself, and its old castles. If you look south, you'll spot the Mariola, Aitana, and Benicadell mountains. To the north is the Xúquer river, and to the west, you can see the Mediterranean Sea and the region of Castile.

History of the Hermitage

The Hermitage of Santa Anna is one of the most modern old buildings in Xàtiva. It is also one of only three buildings in Xàtiva that still have a special type of ceiling called a crucería vault. This hermitage was built in the middle of the 15th century. It has a mix of Gothic and Flemish styles.

Later on, more work was done on the building. A high choir (a special area for singers) and a starry vault (a ceiling that looks like stars) were added. A famous person named Rodrigo Borgia helped with some of these changes.

Building Design

The hermitage has a rectangular shape. It has strong supports called buttresses on the outside. Inside, the main part of the building has three sections. These sections have ribbed vaults, which are arched ceilings with decorative ribs. These sections are separated by arches that go across the building.

Some parts of the old hermitage are now gone. There are still some remains of the stables where animals were kept. You can also see parts of the old entrance gate. However, the hermit's house, the guesthouse, the stairs to the choir, and parts of the walls and roofs have disappeared over time.
