A long time ago, the area that is now Herrljunga Municipality was made up of many smaller areas, about 22 of them! In 1952, these smaller areas were combined into two larger municipalities: Herrljunga and Gäsene. Then, in 1974, these two were joined together to create the Herrljunga Municipality we know today.
