Hickory is a small community in Graves County, Kentucky, United States. It is also sometimes called Hickory Grove. You can find Hickory north of Mayfield and about 18 miles (29 km) south of Paducah. It's located in the far western part of Kentucky.
History of Hickory
Hickory was first planned out in 1856. It was built along the tracks of the Illinois Central Gulf railroad. The community got its name from the many large Hickory trees that grew in the area.
A post office was opened in 1858 and was first named Hickory Grove. Later, in 1914, the post office name was changed to simply Hickory.
People of Hickory
