Hickory Creek is a small stream located in the state of Missouri, United States. It flows through two counties: Daviess County and Grundy County. This creek is a branch, or tributary, of a larger river called the Thompson River.
Where Does Hickory Creek Flow?
Hickory Creek begins in Daviess County. Its starting point, known as the headwaters, is about 1.5 miles northeast of the town of Jamesport. It starts near Missouri Route 6.
Journey Through the Counties
From its start, the creek flows generally northeast and then north. It runs close to the border between Daviess and Grundy counties. As it enters Grundy County, the creek changes direction. It turns to flow southeast.
The creek then passes by a small community that shares its name: Hickory Creek. Finally, it joins the Thompson River. This meeting point, called the confluence, is about one mile north of the border between Grundy and Livingston counties.
