Hideaki Ōmura (大村 秀章, Ōmura Hideaki, born 9 March 1960) is a Japanese politician. He is the current governor of Aichi Prefecture. He also used to be a member of the House of Representatives.
Early Life and Education
Hideaki Ōmura was born on March 9, 1960. His hometown is Hekinan, which is in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. His father worked as a carpenter. His mother was a farmer. He studied law at the University of Tokyo. He earned his degree from there.
Political Career

In 1982, Hideaki Ōmura started working for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. He held several important roles there. These included manager of Tokushima City and assistant director of the Planning Division.
In 1995, he became a leader for the Liberal Democratic Party in Aichi Prefecture. The next year, in 1996, he was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time. He served in this position for five terms. His time in the House of Representatives ended in 2011.
After leaving the House of Representatives, he ran for governor of Aichi Prefecture. He won the election in 2011. He has been serving as the governor of Aichi Prefecture ever since.
Personal Life
Hideaki Ōmura is married. He and his wife have four children.
