Hideo Hashimoto (橋本 英郎, Hashimoto Hideo, born 21 May 1979) is a Japanese former professional footballer. He played as a midfielder, a key position in the center of the field.

Hashimoto's Club Career Highlights

Hideo Hashimoto was born in Osaka, Japan, on May 21, 1979. He started his football journey early, joining the youth team of J1 League club Gamba Osaka in 1992. He then moved up to the main team in 1998.

Becoming a Key Player at Gamba Osaka

From 2001, Hashimoto started playing many games for Gamba Osaka. He often played as a right-side midfielder or a defensive midfielder. By 2003, he became a regular player in the defensive midfield position. He was a very important player for the team under manager Akira Nishino.

In 2005, Gamba Osaka won the J1 League title for the first time ever! This was a huge moment for the club. After this, Gamba Osaka continued to win many more trophies. They won the 2007 J.League Cup, and the Emperor's Cup in both 2008 and 2009.

Success in Asia and Beyond

Gamba Osaka also had great success in Asia. They won the 2008 AFC Champions League, which is a big tournament for clubs across Asia. After winning the Champions League, they played in the 2008 Club World Cup. They finished in third place, which was a fantastic achievement for a Japanese club. This period was known as the "golden era" for Gamba Osaka.

Unfortunately, Hashimoto faced an injury in 2011 and could not play many games. He left Gamba Osaka at the end of the 2011 season.

Moving to Other Clubs

In 2012, Hashimoto joined Vissel Kobe. He played many matches for them. However, in the 2012 season, Vissel Kobe finished near the bottom and was moved down to the J2 League. The next year, in 2013, the team played well and finished second, which meant they could return to the J1 League. Hashimoto continued to play for Vissel Kobe until the end of 2014.

In 2015, he moved to another J2 club, Cerezo Osaka. He didn't play as many games there. In July 2016, he moved to J3 League club AC Nagano Parceiro and played more regularly. In 2017, he joined Tokyo Verdy, another J2 club.

On January 10, 2019, Hashimoto joined Japan Football League club FC Imabari. He continued his career there, playing many games until 2021. In 2022, he played for Ococias Kyoto.
