Hideo Hashimoto (橋本 英郎, Hashimoto Hideo) is a Japanese former professional football player. He was born on May 21, 1979. He played as a midfielder, which is a player who helps both attack and defense.

Playing for Clubs

Hideo Hashimoto was born in Osaka, Japan. He started his football journey early. He joined the youth team of Gamba Osaka in 1992. Later, he moved up to the main team in 1998.

Gamba Osaka Years

From 2001, Hashimoto played many games for Gamba Osaka. He was often a right-side midfielder or a defensive midfielder. A defensive midfielder helps protect the team's goal. By 2003, he became a regular player. He was a key part of the team under coach Akira Nishino.

In 2005, Gamba Osaka won the J1 League for the first time ever. This was a huge moment for the club! After that, they won many more important titles. These included the 2007 J.League Cup and the Emperor's Cup in 2008 and 2009.

Gamba Osaka also did well in Asia. They won the 2008 AFC Champions League. This is a big tournament for clubs in Asia. They also finished third in the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup. This time was known as the "golden era" for Gamba Osaka. Sadly, Hashimoto had an injury in 2011. He left the club at the end of that year.

Moving to Other Teams

In 2012, Hashimoto joined Vissel Kobe. He played many matches for them. However, the team finished 16th in the J1 League and moved down to the J2 League. This is called being "relegated."

In 2013, Vissel Kobe finished second in the J2 League. This meant they moved back up to the J1 League. This is called being "promoted." Hashimoto continued to play many games until 2014.

After Vissel Kobe, he played for several other clubs. In 2015, he joined Cerezo Osaka. In 2016, he moved to AC Nagano Parceiro. Then, in 2017, he played for Tokyo Verdy. On January 10, 2019, Hashimoto joined FC Imabari. He played for them until 2021. In 2022, he played for Ococias Kyoto.

Playing for Japan

Hideo Hashimoto also played for the Japan national football team. His first game for Japan was on June 1, 2007. It was a friendly match against Montenegro. He came into the game as a substitute.

He was part of the Japan team for the 2007 AFC Asian Cup. This is a big tournament for national teams in Asia. He played one game in that tournament. Overall, he played 15 games for Japan between 2007 and 2010.
