Hills and Dales is found in the northeastern part of Jefferson County. It sits on a hill that looks over Goose Creek to the north. A major highway, Interstate 71, runs along the southern edge of the city. Another important road, U.S. Route 42, goes through the northwest corner. This road can take you about 9 miles (14 km) southwest to downtown Louisville.
