Hills of Eternity Memorial Park is a special place where Jewish people are buried. It's also known as Giboth Olam. This cemetery was started in 1889. You can find it in Colma, California, on El Camino Real. A group called Congregation Sherith Israel from San Francisco owns it.

It is one of four Jewish cemeteries close to San Francisco. Right next to it is another Jewish cemetery called Home of Peace cemetery, which also opened in 1889. In Jewish tradition, burials are often done side-by-side. This means the cemetery needs lots of space and regular care.

History of the Cemetery

The first Jewish cemetery in San Francisco was called Emanu-El Hart. It was built in 1847. By 1860, the graves were moved to an area that is now Mission Dolores Park. This cemetery served two groups: Congregation Emanu-El and Congregation Sherith Israel.

As San Francisco grew bigger, the city decided to move cemeteries outside the city limits. So, the Home of Peace Cemetery and Hills of Eternity Memorial Park were created in Colma. Each cemetery served a different Jewish congregation.
