Hilly Hicks Jr. was born on May 11, 1970, in Los Angeles, California. His father, Hilly Hicks, is an actor. His mother is Greta Johnson Mandell.
Hilly went to high school in Pasadena, California. He then studied at Occidental College in Los Angeles. Later, he moved to New York University to follow his passion for writing. He graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. He also studied at Columbia University.
His Plays and Stage Work
Hilly Hicks Jr. has written many plays. One of his plays for children is The Breeze, the Gust, the Gale, and the Wind. This play was created and shown by La Jolla Playhouse. He also wrote How to Unload a Dishwasher.
His play Artists & Criminals was created for South Coast Repertory. Another play, A Hole in the Dark, was shown in New York City. It was later performed in Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and Los Angeles.
Hilly also wrote The Home Life of Polar Bears. This play was developed in New York and Seattle. It was even shown in London at the Royal Court Theatre.
He wrote a short play called Note To Self. It was part of a special festival in 2001. He also helped write Uncle Sam's Satiric Spectacular. Other plays he wrote include The Trophy Room and Self-Portrait. His newest play is The Tallest Girl in the Class.
