The Hilton Glasgow is a very tall hotel in Glasgow, Scotland. It has 20 floors! This hotel is located in an area called Anderston. It's about 8 kilometers (5 miles) from Glasgow Airport. The hotel is also just a few blocks from Glasgow city centre and close to the M8 Motorway. The Hilton Glasgow first opened its doors on November 30, 1992.
Building the Hilton Glasgow
Building the Hilton Glasgow hotel started in 1990. It was built on a piece of land in the Anderston area. This land had been cleared in the 1960s for new buildings. Before the hotel, there were plans for a housing tower here. But those plans were changed, and the land was empty until the late 1980s.
The Hilton Glasgow was the first very tall building (over 20 floors) built in Glasgow in a long time. It was the first time Hilton Hotels opened a hotel in Glasgow. This hotel also has the biggest banqueting hall in the city. A banqueting hall is a large room used for big events and parties.
Famous Guests at the Hilton
The Hilton Glasgow has welcomed many famous people. One famous guest was former United States President Bill Clinton. The well-known Scottish actor and comedian Billy Connolly also stays there often. He was actually born very close to the hotel!
When American boxer Mike Tyson had a boxing match nearby, he booked 150 rooms at the Hilton. He stayed there with all the people who traveled with him. Hollywood actor Robert Duvall also stayed in one of the hotel's fancy suites. He was there for several weeks while filming a movie called A Shot at Glory in Glasgow.

The Hilton Glasgow is a popular place for many award ceremonies. Some important events held here include:
- 2014 Commonwealth Games – These big sports games happened in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 3, 2014. It was the largest sports event ever held in Scotland. About 4,950 athletes from 71 different countries competed in 18 different sports. It was the third time Scotland hosted the Commonwealth Games. The 2014 Games were special because England, Wales, and host Scotland won more gold medals and overall medals than ever before!
- 2014 Ryder Cup for the 2014 Scottish Golf Awards – The Ryder Cup is one of the biggest golf events in the world. The Scottish Golf Awards event for the 2014 Ryder Cup was held at the Hilton. It was the first time in over 40 years that the Ryder Cup tournament was played in Scotland.
