Hiromi Ikeda (池田 浩美, Ikeda Hiromi, born December 22, 1975) is a former Japanese football player. She used to be known as Hiromi Isozaki. Hiromi played as a defender for the Japan national team.

Playing for Clubs

Hiromi Ikeda was born in Honjo, Japan, on December 22, 1975. She started her professional football career in 1995. She joined a team called Tasaki Perule FC.

Early Success in Club Football

In her first year, 1995, Hiromi was chosen as the Best Young Player in the L.League. This was a big award for a new player. She was so good that she was picked for the "Best Eleven" team for 10 years in a row. This was from 1999 to 2008.

End of Club Career

Hiromi played many games for Tasaki Perule FC. She played 236 matches in the L.League. Sadly, her club had money problems and closed down in 2008. Hiromi decided to retire from playing football at the end of that year.

Playing for Japan

Hiromi Ikeda also played for her country, Japan. She joined the national team in 1997. Her first game was on June 8, 1997, against China.

Becoming Team Captain

At the 2004 Summer Olympics, Hiromi became the team captain. This happened because the usual captain, Yumi Obe, was not playing. After those Olympics, Hiromi officially became the captain. She led the team until the 2008 Summer Olympics. She played a total of 119 games for Japan and scored 4 goals.

Personal Life

In 2007, Hiromi got married. When she got married, she changed her last name. Her name changed from Hiromi Isozaki to Hiromi Ikeda.
