Hiromi Miyake (born 18 November 1985) is a Japanese retired weightlifter. She is famous for winning two Olympic medals in the 48kg weight category. She won a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics and a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
Weightlifting runs in her family! Her father and coach, Yoshiyuki Miyake, also won a bronze medal in weightlifting at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. Her uncle, Yoshinobu Miyake, was an even bigger star, winning gold medals at both the 1964 and 1968 Olympics.

Hiromi Miyake started competing in major events early in her career.
Early Olympic Appearances
She first competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics where she finished 9th in the 48kg category. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, she improved her ranking, finishing 6th in the same weight class.
World Championships Success
In 2006, Hiromi won a bronze medal at the 2006 World Weightlifting Championships. She lifted 80kg in the "snatch" (lifting the bar in one go) and 108kg in the "clean and jerk" (lifting the bar to the shoulders, then overhead). Her total lift was 188kg. She also earned another bronze medal at the 2015 World Weightlifting Championships.

Hiromi Miyake achieved her biggest dreams at the Olympics.
Silver Medal in London (2012)
In July 2012, she won the silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. This was a huge achievement for her and for Japan.
Bronze Medal in Rio (2016)
Four years later, in August 2016, Hiromi was back on the Olympic podium. She won the bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, once again in the 48kg category.
Final Olympic Appearance
Her last Olympic appearance was at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. She competed in the women's 49kg event but unfortunately did not complete her lifts successfully.
