Hiroto Mogi (茂木 弘人, Mogi Hiroto, born March 2, 1984) is a former Japanese football player. He played as both a defender and a forward during his career. Mogi is well-known for playing with several Japanese clubs, including Sanfrecce Hiroshima, Vissel Kobe, and Fukushima United FC. He also represented Japan in important youth football tournaments.

Playing for Clubs

Hiroto Mogi was born in Fukushima, Japan, on March 2, 1984. After finishing high school, he started his professional football journey.

Early Career at Sanfrecce Hiroshima

In 2002, Mogi joined Sanfrecce Hiroshima, a club in the top Japanese league, the J1 League. Even though the team sometimes moved between the J1 League and the J2 League (the second division), Mogi got chances to play as a forward right from his first season. However, he didn't become a regular starter and played less often from mid-2005.

Time at Vissel Kobe

In 2006, Mogi moved to Vissel Kobe, which was in the J2 League at the time. He played in many matches, and Vissel Kobe was promoted to the J1 League by the end of the 2006 season. In 2007, his position on the field changed. He became a "side back," playing on the right or left side of the defense. He played many games in this new role.

Even though an injury kept him from playing much in 2008, he became a regular player as a side back from 2009. Vissel Kobe was relegated to the J2 League at the end of the 2012 season. They earned promotion back to J1 in 2013, but Mogi's playing time started to decrease from that year.

Returning Home to Fukushima

In 2015, Hiroto Mogi returned to his hometown area and joined Fukushima United FC, a club in the J3 League (the third division). He played many matches for them each season, switching between playing as a forward and a side back. Mogi decided to retire from professional football at the end of the 2018 season.

Playing for Japan's National Teams

Hiroto Mogi also had the honor of playing for Japan's national youth teams.

Japan U-17 National Team

In September 2001, Mogi was chosen to play for the Japan U-17 national team. He played as a forward in all three matches during the 2001 FIFA U-17 World Championship.

Japan U-20 National Team

Later, in November 2003, he was also selected for the Japan U-20 national team. He played as a forward in all five matches at the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship.
