Hisashi Kaneko (金子 久, Kaneko Hisashi, born September 12, 1959) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a defender and was a member of the Japan national team.

Playing Career Highlights

Hisashi Kaneko was born in Saitama, Japan, on September 12, 1959. He became a professional football player and played for many years. He was known for his skills as a defender.

Club Football Journey

After finishing high school, Kaneko joined a club called Furukawa Electric in 1978. At first, he didn't play in many games. However, his team won the 1982 JSL Cup, which was an early success.

By 1985, Kaneko became a regular player for Furukawa Electric. This was a great time for the club! They won the 1985–86 Japan Soccer League championship. They also won the 1986 JSL Cup again.

Kaneko's excellent performance earned him a spot in the "Best Eleven" team for the 1985–86 and 1986–87 seasons. This means he was recognized as one of the best players in the league.

A very important achievement for his club was winning the 1986 Asian Club Championship. This was a big deal because it was the first time a Japanese club had ever won this Asian championship! Kaneko played a key role in this historic win. He continued playing until he retired in 1992.

Representing Japan

Hisashi Kaneko also played for his country. In August 1979, he was chosen for the Japan U-20 national team. He played in the 1979 FIFA World Youth Championship, which is a big tournament for young players from around the world.

Later, on July 25, 1986, he made his first appearance for the main Japan national team in a game against Syria. He also played for Japan at the Football at the 1986 Asian Games.

In 1987, he was part of the Japan team trying to qualify for the 1988 Summer Olympics. Overall, he played 7 games for the Japan national team and scored 1 goal.
