Hixton is a small village located in Jackson County, Wisconsin, in the United States. It sits right next to the Trempealeau River. In 2010, about 433 people lived there. Hixton is part of a larger area called the Town of Hixton.

History of Hixton
Hixton began in 1854 when a person named John L. Hicks came to the area. The larger area, known as the Town of Hixton, was officially created and named in 1856.
Early Names of the Village
Before it was called Hixton, the community had a couple of other names. It was first known as Williamport. Later, it was called Pole Grove.
Post Office and Railroad
The local post office started in 1856 under the name "Pole Grove." It was later renamed Hixton in 1874. A railroad, the Green Bay and Minnesota Railroad, built a station in Hixton in 1873. This helped the community grow. The village officially became an incorporated community in 1920.

Wisconsin Highway 95 goes right through the village. There is also an exit for Interstate 94 in Hixton. Interstate 94 is a major highway that runs through the northeast part of the village.
