Hjalmar Karl Emil Dahl (born May 15, 1891 – died October 19, 1960) was a talented Finnish-Swedish journalist, translator, and author. He was from Finland but spoke Swedish as his main language.

Hjalmar Dahl's Life and Work
Early Life and Education
Hjalmar Dahl was born in a town called Parikkala in Finland. His father, Johan Dahl, was a pharmacist, which means he worked with medicines. His mother was Betty Kiljander.
Hjalmar finished school in Helsinki in 1910. After that, he went to study at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland. He completed his studies there in 1913.
A Career in Journalism
When Hjalmar returned to Finland, he started a long career in journalism. For almost 30 years, he worked as a journalist. He wrote for the Russian-language section of a newspaper called Hufvudstadsbladet.
He also led several newspapers as their editor-in-chief. These included Nya Tidningen (from 1922 to 1925), Helsingfors-Journalen (from 1929 to 1944), and Aftonposten (from 1944 to 1945). He was also an editor for Månads-Revyn from 1940 to 1944.
Writing and Translating
Besides his journalism, Hjalmar Dahl was also a leader for the Artists' Association of Finland
from 1923 to 1926. This group helps artists in Finland.From 1945 onwards, Hjalmar worked as a freelance author. This means he wrote books and articles independently. He was very good at translating. He translated many famous Russian books into Swedish. He also translated works by a Finnish writer named F. E. Sillanpää into Swedish.
Later Years
In 1955, Hjalmar Dahl moved to Porvoo, a city in Finland. He lived there until he passed away on October 19, 1960. He was buried in the Näsinmäki Cemetery in Porvoo.
