A Look Back in Time
This neighborhood grew in the mid-1800s. Back then, New London's economy was changing. It used to be mostly about ships and the sea. But then, it started to focus more on making things in factories.
Many people who lived in Hodges Square worked in these new factories. Some worked in silk factories nearby. Others worked for the Central Vermont Railroad. The railroad had a special place called a roundhouse and a service yard close by.
