The Story of Hogood Coffee
Hogood Coffee started in 2007. Before making its own brand, the company supplied coffee beans to a big company called Nestle. Later, Hogood launched its own instant coffee. This coffee was special because it used walnut protein powder instead of regular creamer.
Growing and Making Coffee
Hogood grows a lot of its coffee in its home area, Dehong, in Yunnan, China. This region is one of the main places where coffee is grown in Yunnan.
Working with Farmers
The company works closely with local farmers. Hogood rents land from small farms and plants coffee seedlings. Then, they rent the land back to the farmers. When the coffee beans are ready, Hogood buys them from the farmers. This way of working helps increase how much coffee can be grown. It works well because of special land use laws in China.
Coffee Processing
Hogood has invested a lot of money in a large factory. This factory was finished in 2018. It can produce 10,000 tonnes of freeze-dried coffee each year. It also makes 2,000 tonnes of liquid coffee concentrate. Plus, it produces 3,000 tonnes of roasted coffee beans every year.
Selling and Shipping Coffee
Hogood sells its own brand of instant coffee and roasted whole beans. In China, Nestle sells most of the instant coffee. Hogood is a smaller part of the market, but it is growing.
Shipping Coffee Around the World
Hogood sends about half of China's coffee exports to other countries. Since July 2015, the company has shipped coffee to Europe. They use a special train route called the Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe railway link. This train goes through Kazakhstan and ends in Duisburg, Germany. This train journey takes only 14 days. Before, shipping coffee by sea from Guangzhou took 30 to 35 days.
