The Church Building
The Holburn West Church building is in the west part of Aberdeen. You can find it where Ashley Park Drive meets Great Western Road. This church building first opened its doors for people to worship in October 1894.
Special Features of the Building
A bell and a clock were added to the church in 1895. These were made by a company called Gillet & Johnston. The main worship area, called the Sanctuary, and the church entrance were updated in 2004.
The church also has a large organ. It was built in 1922 by Abbott and Smith. Later, in 1974, it was repaired by N.P. Mander.
Art and Windows Inside
Inside the church, there are special paintings called frescoes. These paintings were mentioned in a church record from 1905. They show a dove, a burning bush, and scenes of Jesus. One painting shows Jesus washing his friends' feet. Another shows Jesus with children.
A beautiful stained-glass window was added in 1924. The middle part of the window shows the Crucifixion. The left side shows the Wise Men visiting Jesus. The right side shows Jesus teaching from a boat. The Communion table and chairs were added in 1925. The font, used for baptisms, was added in 1932.
