Holland is a small, unincorporated community located in Lancaster County, Nebraska, United States. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
History of Holland
Holland was founded around the year 1886. Many of the first people who settled here came from the country of Holland (which is also known as the Netherlands). This is why they chose the name "Holland" for their new home!
Life in early Holland sounds pretty interesting. There was even an ice cream parlor run by two sisters! It seems Holland was quite a lively spot back then. It was even busier than nearby places like Panama and Pella. Holland also had a street light, which was a big deal at the time. And there was a Dutch Reformed Church, showing the strong heritage of its founders.
