Home is a small, unincorporated village in Rayne Township, located in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, United States. An unincorporated village means it's a community that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Home has the ZIP code 15747.
History of Home
The community received its unique name because its first post office was set up in the "home" of a person named Hugh Cannon. This happened in 1834. Before it was called Home, people often referred to the area by its original name, Kellysburg.
A famous American author named Edward Abbey moved to Home in 1931. He was born nearby in Indiana, and spent his early childhood in different towns and villages in the area. Abbey became well-known for his writings that described nature and its beauty. Many people believe he found a lot of his inspiration for his books and ideas while growing up in Home.
