Homer is a small town in Georgia, United States. It is the main town, or "county seat," of Banks County. In 2020, about 1,264 people lived there.

History of Homer
Homer got its name from an early settler named Homer Jackson. The town was started in 1858. It became the main town for Banks County that same year. In 1859, Homer officially became a town. Its first courthouse was built a few years later, in 1863.

Fun Facts and Culture
Homer is famous for its annual Easter egg hunt. In 1985, this event was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for having 80,000 eggs! Even though the town has about 1,100 people, the egg hunt draws around 5,000 participants each year. It's a long-standing tradition that has been happening for 47 years.
