What the Campaign Wants to Do
The main goal of this movement is to end all violence against women in India. It also wants to make sure all women in the country get fair treatment. This includes fairness in money, society, and politics.
How the Campaign Works
The movement uses many different ways to fight violence against women in India. It has a plan with several parts.
It uses many tools to teach people about women's rights. These include special stalls, festivals, and meetings. They also share books, videos, and street plays. These help everyone learn about laws and rules that protect women. They teach how to fight against unfair treatment.
The campaign also puts pressure on the government. It does this by getting people to speak up. They also keep campaigning for changes in rules and systems. This helps to stop violence against women.
Main Requests of the Campaign
The campaign worked for four years to create a plan. They held many meetings and workshops across India. People from all over the country shared their ideas. This led to a draft plan called 'Ending Violence against Women: A National Roadmap'.
A special group looked at this plan carefully. They decided the movement should focus on four main requests. These requests could be put into action quickly by state governments. Once these four points are working, the movement can ask for bigger changes. These bigger changes would involve the government, courts, and police.
Four Key Requests
- Strict rules for selling alcohol to help prevent violence.
- Teaching self-defense to girls and women as part of school lessons.
- Having a special protection team for women's security in every area.
- Setting up fast-track courts and special investigation teams. These teams would quickly handle cases of violence against women in every area.
Nirbhaya Vahini: The Foot Soldiers
To make sure governments act on these four requests, a special group was started. It is called Nirbhaya Vahini. This group began in early 2014. It has more than 10,000 volunteers who work on the ground.
