Hopewell is a place in Rio Arriba County, New Mexico, United States. It used to be a small community, but now no one lives there. This means it is a "former unincorporated community." It is located in the Tusas Mountains, right above a pretty spot called Hopewell Lake. You can find it about half a mile south of U.S. Route 64.

Hopewell was named after a rancher and promoter named Willard S. Hopewell. It even had its own U.S. Post Office for a while, from 1894 to 1906.

In the area around Hopewell, you can find many old prospect pits. These are small holes dug in the ground by people looking for valuable minerals. There is also a special station that measures snowpack. This station was set up in 1993 to help scientists understand how much snow is in the mountains.
