In 2010, about 6,791 people lived here. By 2020, the population grew to 12,168 people! The area gets its name from an early settler named Reuben Hornsby. He was a postmaster during the time of the Republic of Texas. His great-grandson, Rogers Hornsby, was a famous baseball player. He is even in the Baseball Hall of Fame and is buried in Hornsby Bend.
