Story Summaries
Henry Tricks the Tooth Fairy
Everyone in Horrid Henry's class has lost a tooth, except for Henry! His younger brother, Perfect Peter, just lost one and got money from the Tooth Fairy. Henry decides he needs to lose a tooth too. He eats tons of sweets, even though it's not "Sweet Day." But his teeth don't get wobbly, and his mouth and stomach hurt instead.
Then, Henry gets a "brilliant" idea. He plans to trick the Tooth Fairy! That night, he sneaks into Peter's room and steals Peter's tooth from under his pillow. He bumps into his mum but manages to get away. The next morning, Henry finds no coin under his pillow. Peter, however, finds a pound coin from the fairy.
Henry asks his mum how the Tooth Fairy knows whose pillow to visit. She tells him the fairy looks for the gap where the tooth was. Henry realizes his mistake! He puts a piece of black paper over his mouth to look like he has a gap. At night, he ties his finger to a fake vampire tooth. He wants to make sure he wakes up when the Tooth Fairy takes it. The next morning, Henry gets a fake 50p coin and a letter. The letter is from the Tooth Fairy, making fun of his trick! Henry's mum scolds him for eating all the sweets. She tells him to eat apples instead. Henry bites into an apple, and to his horror, he loses a tooth and swallows it!
Henry's Wedding Day
Horrid Henry's cousin, Prissy Polly, is getting married to Pimply Paul. Henry and his brother, Perfect Peter, are chosen to be pageboys. First, Henry's pageboy clothes are too tight. Then, his family has to drag him into the car to go to the wedding. To make things worse, they get caught in a thunderstorm. They arrive at the wedding later than everyone else.
While the priest is saying the wedding vows, Henry pretends to be a famous chef. He starts tossing the wedding rings around like pancakes! When the rings are needed, Henry gives them a toy pirate ring instead. Later, during photos, Henry jumps in at the last moment. He makes horrible faces in all the pictures. At the reception, while everyone is eating, Henry secretly eats the wedding cake. Pimply Paul catches him! While Paul chases Henry, Henry leaps and lands right into the cake. Henry's whole family wonders where the wedding cake went... but Henry knows!
Moody Margaret Moves In
Moody Margaret is going to stay at Henry's house for two weeks. Henry's room is given to Margaret, and he has to sleep in Perfect Peter's room. When Margaret arrives, she immediately starts ordering everyone around. She makes them do spring cleaning. After that, at dinner, Margaret keeps getting Henry into trouble.
At bedtime, Margaret sets up booby traps on Henry's bed. She also stresses his parents by complaining a lot. In the morning, Margaret wakes everyone up by blasting her trumpet. She screams at Henry's mum to make her breakfast. She finds Henry's secret biscuits and crisps and eats every single one. On Wednesday, Margaret bans everyone from playing music because it disturbs her. On Thursday, she stops Henry from singing. On Friday, she even makes Henry stop breathing for a while because it disturbs her!
Henry gets completely fed up. He comes up with a plan to get rid of her. He calls Margaret's parents, telling them to come home from their holiday right away because Margaret is in an emergency. His plan works, and Margaret leaves! But Peter tells Mum and Dad what Henry did. Henry gets ready for his punishment. But his mum just says, "Go to your room." Henry thinks those are the sweetest words ever, since he hasn't been allowed in his own room for six days!
Henry's New Teacher
Horrid Henry is usually a teacher's worst nightmare. But not for Mr. Nerdon. When he becomes Henry's teacher, he shows how tough he is. He can turn Henry's tricks back on him. He also has smart answers for Henry's silly comments. He never gets angry with Henry. He can even twist Henry's rude jokes into a nightmare for Henry himself.
But then, Henry makes Mr. Nerdon believe that Peter is dead. Mr. Nerdon faints and is taken away by emergency services. Henry isn't bothered that an even stricter teacher, Miss Battle-Axe, will teach his class from then on.
