Hortonville got its start a long time ago. In 1883, a post office was opened there. A post office is where people send and receive mail. This was a very important place for the community.
The first person in charge of the post office was named John B. Horton. The community of Hortonville was named after him! The post office served the people of Hortonville for many years. It finally closed down in 1933.
